  •  What a lovely Aurora surprise! Just a normal night off for me and while I was removing the snow from my driveway the clouds suddenly disappear and Lady Aurora began a craz, beautiful show... out from nowhere... The solar speed was low as was the particles, so this was a really big surprise..;)

  • After a quiet Aurora month in December, when we also experienced the warmest month since year 1900 with rain and plus degrees, this was the best Aurora show since November. I set 8/10 in my Aurora Blog for tonight's lovely surprise.

When we returned to the coast we got a gap in the clouds and got a faint band of Aurora... and when we arrived closer to Sommarøy, we got a larger clear hole and saw a wide Aurora band across the sky, before it get to cloudy again... the clear sky didn´t appear before 3 hours later, but then my guests was back at theirs accommodation...

It`s always tricky to choose between a long drive to Finland and a short one out on the coast when the weather forecast says okey weather on both locations.

This night I choose the short one, and I already regret when I was standing out there in wet heavy snowfall and got the message about 100% clear sky in Finland...

But the decision was made, so I just had to make the best out of it, so I begin to search on the web camera over Tromsø and sky camera little further east... which showed clear sky and Aurora, so it was time to leave and drive to a better location... and then another colleague call me and told it was clear sky only 15 km away; Great!

So, just in time before the Lady came out that strong so the snow on the ground got green, we was under clear sky, just over the mountains north of my house and we could experience a lovely Aurora show with this years first corona in 3 colors..;) It was a 9/10 show of good activtiy, but it didn`t last so long, so I could only set 7/10 in my blog.
